Frequently Asked Questions

02FAQ

Q.01

Are PhotoCraft, WordCraft, PdfCraft, and all 13 apps really 100% free?

Yes. Every application in the suite is free forever with no subscription, no trial countdown, no watermarks, and no account sign-in. Source code is dual-licensed under MIT and Apache-2.0, permitting both personal and commercial work.

Q.02

Is PhotoCraft legal, or does it contain leaked Adobe Photoshop code?

It is a 100% clean-room implementation written from scratch in pure Rust using publicly documented file format specifications (.psd, .pdf, .docx) and observed UI behavior. Zero proprietary code, shaders, or assets from Adobe or Microsoft are used.

Q.03

Can PhotoCraft open and save my layered Adobe Photoshop (.PSD) files?

Yes. PhotoCraft reads and writes 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit layered PSD and PSB files, preserving layer groups, blend modes, clipping masks, adjustment layers, smart objects, and ICC color profiles (passing 307/309 round-trip parity tests).

Q.04

Are these apps ready to replace Adobe Creative Cloud and MS Office for daily pro work?

Be realistic: these projects launched in October 2026 and are in fast-moving Alpha (v0.8–v0.13). WordCraft, PdfCraft, and PhotoCraft already cover 75–81% of everyday workflows, but cloud generative fill and third-party C++ plug-ins are not yet supported. Always keep backups of critical production files.

Q.05

Why use the ArteCraft Launcher instead of downloading 13 separate installers?

ArteCraft.exe (7.4 MB) runs portably on Windows 10 & Windows 11 x64 without administrator rights, verifies SHA-256 hashes automatically, creates clean Desktop shortcuts, and notifies you via official browser link when new releases ship.

Q.06

Does it work completely offline without internet or telemetry?

Yes. Once installed, every single app runs 100% locally on your hardware. Your photos, legal PDFs, spreadsheets, and source documents never leave your disk.

Q.07

Can I use ArteCraft apps commercially at work or for client projects?

Yes. Dual MIT / Apache-2.0 open-source licensing grants unrestricted commercial use in studios, agencies, universities, and businesses.

Q.08

Does ArteCraft.exe require Windows Administrator rights or install background services?

No. ArteCraft.exe (7.4 MB) runs portably in user space (%LOCALAPPDATA%\ArteCraft\Apps or your custom folder) with zero background telemetry.
